  • Mopars in the Trans Am Series of Road Racing

The most famous of the Mopars were the E-Bodies AAR Cuda and Challenger Trans Am.

AAR Stood for All American Racing (Team) and the Series was The Trans Am (Trans America). The Engines were limited to 5.0 Liters. The Mustang Boss 302 and Camaro Z28 were Ford and Chevys entry for Trans Am Racing. They both had 302 CI motors, so Mopar destroked the 340 to 302CI and threw a Sixpack on it. If you stumble across a real nice photo of either - please share it with us. The Key Words were "Real Nice Photo".

Didn't they have a recall on the hood springs being too strong. You can see the hood in the first pic with a bulge in it from that....

I don't know about that. I could swear my AAR was a lift off fiberglass hood, but that was. over 25 years ago and having a hard time remembering yesterday.

IIRC, only the A12 road runner had a lift off hood.....
